Dexter Leaders
Andrew Dexter of Massachusetts came south just after the War of 1812 to better his fortunes. Dexter was an intellectual dreamer, who contributed to the founding of the City of Montgomery. The name of the city’s
wide avenue leading up to the Capitol was changed from Market Street to Dexter Avenue in his honor.
The Andrew Dexter Society leadership givers have demonstrated their belief that the River Region is indeed worthy of significant personal investment. Their annual gift ranges from $5,000 - $9,999.
