RRUW Gets a New Home, Thanks to Regions Bank

The River Region United Way is on the move!

About a year ago, prompted by rising lease rates, we began the process of looking for new, permanent office space. We were fortunate enough to find a foreclosed property located at 3121 Zelda Court, and owned by Regions Bank. The building had a few issues after sitting empty for more than three years, but that didn’t deter us. We saw great potential.

“I’m firmly convinced that there is almost nothing that can’t be accomplished when you form a team of passionate people, working together and united by a common purpose,” said RRUW President and CEO Jimmy Hill. “We were fortunate that in seeking to purchase this property, we discovered that the financial institution was Regions Bank – and we were doubly fortunate that the person we first needed to approach was Mike Hart, Montgomery market president with Regions Bank.”

Thanks to the assistance of Mike and his team at Regions, RRUW was able to purchase the building after being presented with an offer that was just too good to pass up.

“At Regions, we have a strong commitment to the community, and we’ve had a long history of partnering with and supporting the United Way, through our contributions and through volunteerism,” said Mike. “This was a great opportunity to help United Way better support the community in a more efficient way, and we wanted to partner with them. One of our core values at Regions is ‘Make Life Better,’ and it fits in nicely with the work that the United Way is doing in Montgomery and throughout the River Region.”

It’s due to the generosity and hard work of Regions, Upchurch Construction and many other local businesses and tradesmen that we were able to purchase and refurbish the property to bring it up to code, and we will be moving to the new space on December 9!

Why is this significant? RRUW’s investment in the new facility will be fully recouped in approximately 27 months, resulting in a cost savings of $190,000 over the next five years. (RRUW will own the building outright in just over two years!)

“This will allow us to realize savings that can instead be invested in addressing community needs and creating positive change in the lives of people all across the River Region,” said Jimmy. “It is our first obligation – our primary responsibility – to be good stewards of the assets this community entrusts to us. We firmly believe this opportunity represents our pledge to the wise management of resources and our commitment to stewardship.”

We can’t say thank you enough to Mike Hart and his team at Regions Bank. Without their assistance and generosity, this would not have been possible.

Our physical address is changing, but our mailing address will remain the same – P.O. Box 868, Montgomery, AL 36101.
